The Parable of the Rich man and the Beggar

Luke 16:19-31
“There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

**So many times you hear in stories of the underdog that finally got their day of glory and the one that was over them gloating, finally received their day of misery and faced the consequences of their actions. Well in this parable speaks of a rich man that had everything he can think of upon the earth, and was very proud of what he had accomplished. But in his accomplishments he had a hard heart, having no compassion upon the poor man Lazarus who didn’t have even the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Though Lazarus didn’t have much upon the earth, He had an abundant of blessings In paradise when he passed away, where the rich man was down in hell with nothing but pain and regret.

This is exactly what we face today through the decisions that we make every day. Will you carry your treasures upon the earth or will you obtain them in heaven? In order for us to go to heaven, we must be born again (John 3:3) and met for our master’s use. How do we do that? By confessing of your sins (Romans 10:9-10) and allowing Jesus to take control of your entire life, and for you to plant yourself upon the strong foundation for you to stand. When you build your house (we are the temple/building) upon the rock (Jesus) as we are to trust fully in him we can make it through the toughest storms that come at us. **
John 3:3
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Romans 10:9-10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Building your house upon the rock(Jesus), not upon the sand (world)
Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”

Proverbs 12:3
“A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

Proverbs 12:7
“The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

**If you would like to give your heart to Jesus today, repeat these words below:
'Dear Heavenly Father,i come to in the name of Jesus; Forgive me a sinner and wash me in your precious blood. Make this heart of stone to be made flesh, so that your word may be sown in it. Any addictions that i may have, remove them now in Jesus name! I've accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and believe that He died and rose from the dead! And from this day forward, i commit my life to you and seek for guidance and understanding in your word, as i walk in your path of righteousness, In Jesus name i pray, AMEN!!!'
If you have recited these words and meant them in your heart, you are saved and if the Lord would come today, you will be ready to go to Heaven!! What does Jesus Christ mean to you?

(Luke 10:27)
"And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."

*Have you ever looked back and reflected in your life as a believer of Jesus Christ, on what Jesus really means to you? What “I” mean is, yes we say we believe in Jesus Christ and the marvelous works He performed for us, but as a Christian what kind of relationship do we have with Him? You can read the book from Genesis to Revelations, you can pray all you want, but do you really mean it from your heart? It takes more than going to church every Sunday and Wednesday, reading the bible everyday and praying here and there to officially call yourself in a “Relationship” with Jesus Christ. Why am I bringing this up? It is because in this time and age people who claim themselves as Christians today, are in a religious state, not in a true relationship with Jesus. A lot like how the Pharisees in Jesus’ time were; stuck in their rituals and not ‘humbly’ praying on their knees to our Father in heaven. Many times Jesus referred to them as hypocrites, and said it with anger and disgust. God expressly tells us in the word, that we can sing with our lips in praise, but if our heart is not there it means nothing. *

(Matthew 15:1-9)
Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
(Isaiah 29:13)
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
*Today we have a lot of Pharisees walking around, intentionally noting within themselves that they do enough before others and with God, that their heart becomes a stone, stuck in religion and pushing God far from their heart in reverence of Him. Let us not have that same mindset.
In truth, we can never give God enough praise, because what He did was at a precious and valuable cost; His only begotten Son. No money, not enough fundraisers and extravagant church events can sum up the value of what He had done AND on what He can do for us today!
So many so called believers today say as long as you believe in Jesus Christ, go to church and do good onto others you will go to heaven. EHH..There is more to the facts on what they are presenting before the people. There are churches that tell people this and allow sin to continue because of the most famous lines (We are not perfect, God understands, He is working on it). Let me clarify something with you..
1.      Yes, the first step into having a relationship with Jesus Christ is, believing on Him and what He has done for us. He will forgive you of your sins and you have invited Him in your heart to dwell there. But that is not where it ends; you don’t continue in your old path of living. You have made a great leap, you have received something so precious (salvation) in your life and you choose to lay it on a shelf every once and a while? That is not how it works people..

(2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

(1 Peter 1:13-16)
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

2.    It also takes more than just warming a seat at church, you have to believe and live in these words from God. (A)The building itself will not save us, for we are the temple/church and we are to keep ourselves holy at all times.  (B)Yes, we make mistakes, but we get up brush ourselves off and strengthen ourselves to avoid making those same mistakes again by drawing closer to God.

a.    (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

b.    (Isaiah 41:10)
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

** I hope you read this today and truly reflect on the relationship you have with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For just as we have a commitment with our physical marital spouse in this world, we are to do the same more so (of course) with Jesus Christ. For He has proven himself that He is worthy of all praise, glory and honour. **

**If you would like to give your heart to Jesus today, repeat these words below:
'Dear Heavenly Father,i come to in the name of Jesus; Forgive me a sinner and wash me in your precious blood. Make this heart of stone to be made flesh, so that your word may be sown in it. The Problem of Religious Division

(1 Corinthians 1:10-13)
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?”

INTRODUCTION

1. The picture the world sees of "Christianity" is one with much
religious division...
a. Between Catholics and Protestants
b. Between various Protestant denominations
c. Between liberal and conservative factions of any denomination
d. Between members of the same congregation

[Yet in the early church, "The Problem Of Religious Division" was not
taken lightly.  As we turn to our text (1Co 1:10-13), we are
immediately struck with...]

I. THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM

A. IN THE WORDS OF PAUL...
1. Prompting the apostle to beg ("I plead with you, brethren...")
2. Appealing to the authority of Christ
3. For the contention division creates
4. For the impression such division gives
a. That Christ is somehow divided
b. That their allegiance is to some man rather than to Christ
5. For such division is indicative of carnality and spiritual
immaturity
“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while on saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?”

-- Paul certainly took the problem of religious division
seriously!

B. IN THE WORDS AND DEEDS OF JESUS...
1. Jesus prayed for unity among those who would believe in Him
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”

a. Unity akin to that between the Father and the Son
b. Participating in the unity between the Father and the Son
“I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

2. For two reasons Jesus prays for unity among believers
a. "that the world may believe that you sent Me"
b. "that the world may know that you sent Me, and have loved
them as You have loved Me"
3. He even passed along glory from the Father to make unity
possible!
4. He also died to bring about unity between Jew and Gentile
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:”

-- Jesus prayed and died for unity...He certainly took religious
division seriously!

[How can we who profess to be Christians today take "The Problem Of
Religious Division" lightly? If we appreciate the concern of both Jesus and Paul, what can we do about it?  In our text, we find...]

II. THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

A. SPEAK THE SAME THING...
1. So the apostle enjoins in our text
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement.”

a. Of course, it is easier said than done
b. But this is the goal to which we are to strive
2. The goal is more likely if we heed the words of Peter
“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

a. "If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God..."
b. Let those who teach or preach do so in accordance with the
Word of God
c. Too many teach or preach their opinions, rather than the
Word of God
-- I.e., "Speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the
Bible is silent"

B. HAVE THE SAME MIND...
1. Again the apostle so enjoins in our text *1Corinthian 1:10
a. Those of the same mind will more likely speak the same thing
b. Striving to be of the same mind) will help us speak the same
thing
2. The "same mind" we should have is the "mind of Christ"
 Philippians 2:1-5
“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

a. Which results in consolation, comfort, fellowship, affection
and mercy
b. Which requires lowliness of mind, thinking highly of others,
concern for others
-- As we develop the mind of Christ, the more likely we will be of
one mind

**If you would like to give your heart to Jesus today, repeat these words below:

'Dear Heavenly Father,i come to in the name of Jesus; Forgive me a sinner and wash me in your precious blood. Make this heart of stone to be made flesh, so that your word may be sown in it. What does it say about the unmarried in God's Holy Word?

What does it say about the unmarried in God’s Holy Word?

--There have been a lot of conflicted views toward this subject:
What does it say in the Bible about living with someone and not being married?
To know the answer you must look what is plainly written in God’s Holy Word. When a person is not married and they live with their significant other it is considered ‘fornication’.

Definition of Fornication: Sexual intercourse between people who are not married to each other.
God specifically states in the word of those that commit this sin will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:18
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

**Paul was an apostle/man of God that spoke upon God’s Holy Word to many all around. He placed God above all of his needs and set Him as his first priority in his life. He knew that in order to give God the glory he was to make sure to please God through doing the works of spreading the gospel and leading a holy life for others to follow. He stayed a single man didnt marry and stated that it worked for him to be totally devoted into living a holy fulfilled life for Christ. He knew not everyone was able to do the same and for those who had a hard time being single to avoid fornication and burning (going to hell) you must be married. Of course the marriage would have to be in the will of God and not just marrying anybody. This is why God needs to be involved in your lives to make a successful marriage. **

1 Corinthians 7:2
“Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9
“I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 9But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.”

** People are rejected marriage and considering that it is just a paper, but this so called paper is more than just paper. This states that God has formed two people together in marriage where no man can put asunder (Separate) God loves marriage and sees to it as a holy matrimony. **

1 Timothy 4:3
"Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
